Roches Breast Care
Joins Hands with Mary Keane & Crosscause Charity

At Roches, we are thrilled to announce our partnership with Crosscause Charity and Mary Keane, a compassionate and experienced Breast Care Nurse Specialist, in an inspiring initiative to support Ghanaian women battling Breast Cancer.

As Dublin’s leading Breast Care Specialists, we have been providing mastectomy bras, breast prostheses, and essential items to women in Ireland and beyond for many years. Our mission is to provide our clients with the utmost comfort, confidence, and care. Now, we’re excited to extend our reach beyond Dublin & Ireland by teaming up with Mary & Crosscause Charity to empower women in Ghana facing similar challenges.

Our clients have frequently enquired about donating their used breast prostheses and bras, and now we have an incredible opportunity to do just that!

Introducing a Lifeline from Ireland to Ghana

Breast Cancer poses a significant health challenge in Ghana, affecting approximately 2.3 million women each year and tragically leading to 685,000 deaths. One of the most critical issues facing these women is the delayed presentation due to cultural, spiritual, and religious considerations. Fear of mastectomy remains a significant barrier, and the lack of resources and reconstructive surgery options adds to their challenges.

Through extensive research, Mary has gained invaluable insights into the struggles faced by Ghanaian women. It’s heartbreaking to learn that many women passionately express their fear of diminished sexuality after mastectomy, which becomes a major factor in their decision to delay treatment. Additionally, concerns about privacy, confidentiality, and limited access to prostheses and bras add to the complexity of their journey.

Lack of access and the high cost of silicone prosthesis leads to some women using plaster of Paris and cloth for an artificial breast.

Mary's Journey to Ghana

Mary will travel to Ghana in October, equipped with the generously donated breast prostheses and bras, to personally fit and provide support to women affected by Breast Cancer. Donations can be made until mid-September. Roches is an official collection and donation point, so you can drop your donations into our shop.
